Rev. Sievers founded St. Paul Lutheran church and the community of Frankenlust in 1848. That year he began writing Rev. Loehe in Germany about the progress being made with the colony of German emigrants at Frankenlust. Eight of these letters dating from 1848 to 1869 may be read at: www.bay-journal.com/bay/1he/writings/rev-sievers/sievers-intro.htmlTwo letters written in 1848 describe what these German emigrants experienced in moving to land in the wilderness between Saginaw and Bay City, MI. From the Rev. Sievers' letters there are links to history on him, the St. Paul Lutheran church and maps of the early settlement.
