The school year is young, but already there have been several incidents of violence in local schools that should be alarming to everyone. Yesterday, October 20th, a fifteen year old student was shoot in the chest in the hall way of Saginaw High School. According to an article in The Saginaw News paper on October 21th, law enforcement authorities said the incident, which followed other acts of school violence, wasn't unexpected. A high tolerance for violence seems a part of our modern society in our music, movies and television, which is being played out on the streets and in schools around America. Some basic and dramatic changes are required in our tolerance and methods for bring social order to our communities and the school systems where goes for their educations. The violence occurring in the Irag War gets far greater attention than the fearful reality of what students deal with in the halls of our educational institutions. What's wrong with this picture, but more importantly, what can we do as a society and individually to change a culture of violence?
