While declining industrial jobs in the Saginaw Valley have hit most every community, Saginaw with the bulk of industrial jobs has been hit the hardest.
What do you think is needed for Saginaw to improve its economy?

Clean up the slums and riff raff might help attract new ventures.

That certainly makes sense, and I agree. It should be done whether or not the economy is good.
Such conditions tend to increase criminal activities and lower community pride and moral. I think I would move to the suburbs to live and get as far away I could from decaying neighborhoods.
But, I think it will take more than that to attract businesses today to Saginaw or anyother economically despressed community.
Communities must learn how to compete in a world market. It may even require a regional effort to successfully bring new businesses to this area.

I would not open a business in Saginaw. They charge a city income tax and I will not support the current city government.
