Hello, I've been looking to become more active in my community, namely Monitor township, where I live. I understand maybe there isn't all that much traffic on the site from people from here, but if anyone lives here, I'd like to ask you a question:
What are your primary concerns? Are you active at all in local government? What do you think they're doing right? What do you think should be changed/improved? Taxes, education, anything at all that bothers you or that you're happy with?

Taxes! I pay over $3000.00 a year on taxes and I don't even live on a paved road. They're nuts!

It looks like Fraser Township is the only one that is LOWER! Check for yourself www.co.bay.mi.us/bay/home.nsf/public/13C57AD432CD9583852569EE00618DE7?OpenDocumentHomestead Millage rates for 2004 Monitor 26.3637 mills Williams 29.5211 Mt. That's interesting and excellent reference.
I took a look at the link which shows the details behind the total millage rate for each township. looks like the only variables from one township to another is the township and school bonding rates. The later can be missleading since it mostly likely covers temporary building projects.
The township rate would seem to be the most meaning in comparing the rate differential between townships.
Using this reference on townships only, Hampton at 5.65 is the highest. In comparison, Monitor and Fraser are quite low at 1.24 and 2.17 respectively.
