I'm looking for anyone interested in saving our genealogy at the State Library in Lansing. They say that unless the legislators say NO that the library will possibly be dispersed in 7 different directions which will make research really miserable for us. The governor has signed a bill in July and it will take effect October 1st if there is no opposition. Please write all of our legislators and tell them you want our beautiful state library in Lansing to remain intact.

We are meeting on the Lansing capital steps on September 10th for a rally on keeping the library of Michigan as is. We would like to see thousands attend if at all possible. We had 524 present at the rally on August 5th. Please help us everyone, when our library is gone, it will be gone. It will cost the state much more to renevate the library for the governors plan than to keep it as it is.

We are having a family debate about some Midland Street history. I contend there was a car dealership located on Midland Street adjacent to Veterans Park that was destroyed by fire in the early 70's. I believe it was a Datsun dealer. I moved from the area in 1978 so this would be prior to that date. Anyone recal a car dealer in this area?
