The Material Girl turned 50 years old on August 16, 2008. In doing so she has set another bench mark for woman. Madonna may be 50, but her looks and body are that of a woman 20 years younger by making exercise and good eating habits a part of her life. In essence she has provided proof that middle-age woman can retain their youthful figure, and along with their maturity can look even more attractive. Madonna, a native of Michigan, was born in Bay City, which has yet to fully embraced the success of the most popular female artist in history. Back in the 1980s as the "Madonna mania" swept across the nation, officials in her birth town wanted nothing to do with the pop entertainer whose sensual performances were a bit too much for them. (The Elvis pelvis syndrome of the 1950s) Decades later, city officials are attempting to right the wrong of the past. The mayor of Bay City sent a letter to Madonna some months ago offering her the Key to Bay City, but there has been no response as of this posting. I suspect that it will take a little more than the Key to Bay City to demonstrate the city's pride in being the birth place of a super-star, and to undo the city's shunting of her two decades ago. I posted an article with some of my thoughts on the subject. bay-journal.com/utl/ml/articles/bj-mak-madonna-0808.html Share you comments and/or cast a ballot in the Pollinig Booth! nivram.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=polls&action=display&thread=144
