From the Bay-Journal Heritage Library About 131 years-ago work began on a plank road... It took a couple of days for early pioneers to travel between Midland and Bay City who had to follow a beaten down path that meandered through a forested wilderness. The folks in the two community and those living between them couldn't have been happier when they learned of plans being made to lay out a road made of wood planks.
