-- Believe it or not, Michigan has an earthquake history. The 1947 earthquake pictured here was the largest to directly hit Michigan. While Michigan hasn't been the center of many earthquakes, it has felt the affect of quite a few from outside the state. The first record of tremors in Michigan were in 1811-12, when it was still a territory. Those very large and distructive earthquates were center in New Madrid, Missouri. Learn more at: 1.
